The Museum is a collection of buildings housing Tamworth Historical Society’s vast collection of objects, photographs, agricultural equipment & ephemera which tell the story of Tamworth.

Established in 1919, the Gallery is one of the oldest regional galleries in NSW. The Gallery’s collection was started with a gift of 100 paintings & works on paper from artist Hohn Salvana in 1919.
Tamworth was the first municipality to use electricity to light its streets in 1888 (15 years before Sydney). The Museum includes a replica of the first power station building. The museum also displays significant collections of 20th century electric appliances used for heating, cooling, cleaning, cooking and entertainment, together with one of the largest collections of light bulbs in Australia, machinery and technical instruments.
Visit the park where you’ll find kangaroos, wallabies, cockatoos, emus & Indian peacocks, plus bird species in the free-flight aviary. The park also hosts a community-built Adventure Playground which has designated areas for under 5s and over 5s.
